Question 1: Who were selling baskets and Why ?

Answer: The refugee children were selling baskets. Because they wanted to earn money for their living and to help their parents.

Answer: Due to partition between India and Pakistan millions of People left Pakistan for India.

Question 3: Why did the children descend like locusts on the writer?

Answer: The children were very poor. They hardly got someone who bought their things. Writer was an English rich man. So the children descended like locusts on the writer.

Question 4: What forced the writer to buy the little girl’s basket?

Answer: When the writer gave some changes to the little girl. The girl was very self respective. She gave it back. This attitude forced the writer to buy the little girl’s basket.
